     WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (AP) - Amos Watson, whose impressive arm as a teen-age pitcher won him a spot in the Negro Baseball League, died Friday. He was 71.

     Watson was only 18 years old when he compiled a 27-3 record with Jimmy Hill's All-Stars in 1944. He moved up to the Cincinnati-Indianapolis Clowns of the Negro American League, but was unable to meet expectations.

     He played the 1945 season with Cincinnati-Indianapolis, and part of the following season with the Indianapolis Clowns. He played the rest of 1946 with the Kansas City Monarchs and 1947 with the Baltimore Elite Giants.

    His record for those years was 14-14.
